What should I expect on my first day of camp?

Morning care begins at 8am in the Camp Circle, located on the Southside of campus, across the street from the main Museum. At Chapel Hill, extended care is located in the courtyard. Campers will be free to choose from a variety of games, toys, and activities until everyone disperses for camp. Your camper’s Assistant Educator will be available to answer any questions during this time and your camper’s Educator will be available after 8:45am. At 9:00am we begin regular drop off, still on the Southside of campus. Please park and escort your child to the check in tent. If you arrive after 9:15am please head to the main Museum to check your camper in at Camp Headquarters located in the Mercury Museum Room (MMR) behind the Main Admissions Desk in the lobby. Between 3:00-3:15pm, follow the signs and please queue up along the curb in our Southside parking lot, across the street from the main Museum. All adults are required to show an ID to sign out their camper, every day of camp, so please have your ID ready to show a camp staff member when you pull up to the loading zone. Camp Educators will help load your camper so you never need to leave your car! Summer afternoon parking can be very challenging due to our high attendance. If you are picking up from afternoon extended care, you can park and check out your child at the MMR, located behind the Main Admissions Desk in the lobby, or Camp Headquarters, located by the courtyard at Montessori Community School. Aftercare ends at 5:30pm sharp.

What happens during Afternoon Care?
Afternoon Care is an opportunity for your child to spend free time participating in activities of their choice. For $45 a week your child can play on the playground (weather permitting) or participate in games, stories and other indoor activity choices. Museum-based campers will also explore exhibits. Afternoon Care is a fun way for your camper to finish their camp day! Afternoon Care is from 3:00pm to 5:30pm.
What happens during Morning Care?
During Morning Care, campers will have a variety of activities from which to choose. Building activities, art projects, and games of all kinds allow campers to spend the morning meeting new friends and gearing up for the camp day ahead! Morning Care is from 8:00am to 8:55am and costs $25 a week.
What should my child bring to camp?
Please send your child with a morning snack, lunch, water bottle and an extra change of clothes. Campers in afternoon extended care should also bring an extra snack. Please label all items. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes for indoor and outdoor Museum exploration.
Is there a way for me to know what my child will do in their camp?
The week before camp, you will receive an email with your camp name, location, and other information about the week. You will also receive a “What’s Happening” letter that will outline the scheduled activities for the camp.
How does parking work?
